ROSE RESIDENCE . BERKELEY

Nestled above the Rose Garden, this client reached out to us with the desire to wake up with more natural light and breeze in their otherwise dark, closed off bedroom.  To achieve this, we both opened up the room to the view with a set of new windows and added more capacity to the space.

Working within the original ranch style and footprint of the home, we replaced two existing closets that were blocking the view with a set of operable windows that wrap the corner of the room. The room was reconfigured to provide a new vanity closet area. This insertion also serves as a landing spot for the bed to orient towards the view and creates a private path to the bathroom.  The material and light fixture selections was a highly collaborative effort with the client and very much inspired by their sense of style.

When we returned to photograph the home the following Spring, we were so pleased to see that the wisteria was still thriving and gave a sense that the house had never been touched.
